Bentyl is an anticholinergic, the drug that reduces smooth muscles spasms, it is also used to treat peptic ulcers, infant colics, colitis and kindred diseases. Bentyl is prescribed to treat irritable bowel syndrome (for example, constipation associated with stress and abdominal pain, accompanied by diarrhea). The working mechanism of Bentyl is blocking a chemical in the smooth muscle of the intestines and stomach, and relaxing, which reduces cramping.
Possible side effects: thirst, dry mouth, and dizziness.
